Long Island Newspaper Showcases Aruba

Long Island’s largest newspaper,Newsday, featured Aruba in its October 31 “Go!” section. The paper features travel destinations in this section weekly. If the Aruba Tourism Authority had anything to do with this, they are to be commended. Lots of people from the New York metropolitan area, and Long Island have been vacationing in Aruba for years. As the effects of the 2008 recession lingers, Aruba can be accurately portrayed as an economical vacation choice.

Many hotels, resorts, and restaurants are mentioned. Two of the most highly rated restaurants are Screaming Eagle and The Old Man and The Sea. I’ve never been to Screaming Eagle, but Old Man And The Sea is our current favorite on the island. Both the food and the “on the beach” ambiance are outstanding.  Prices aren’t cheap, but we’ve never left feeling we didn’t get our money’s worth.  Two of my other favorite high end restaurants were not mentioned : Papiamento and The Flying Fishbone. I highly recommend both. The Flying Fishbone is owned by the same company that owns Screaming Eagle. It is located in Savaneta, just about next door to The Old Man And The Sea.
